4Creating & Using Custom Tests
As a teacher, you can create or import special tests for your students.
To create a test,
click on the
test button
in
the main screen to open the Test Selection window, then click on the
custom test button
to
open the Custom Test Management menu.
When you first start
using Touch Typing NoW!, the list on the left will be blank. Click on the
new test button
to
create a new custom test. A dialogue box will open and you will be asked to
give the test a name and to indicate the maximum number of mistakes allowed in
the test. Click the
ok button
or
press the Enter key to continue.
If you
choose to type your own text for the test, start typing it in the text bar,
making sure that you format everything as you want it to appear. When the text
is completed to your satisfaction, click on the
stop
button
to
save and install the test.
If you would like to
import a piece of text, for example from your word processor, click on the
import button
and
you will be taken into a mini Windows Explorer. Select the document you wish to
import and click OK. This will bring you back to the Custom Test
Management menu, with the imported test created.
Once those tests have been saved or imported, they cannot be edited, only deleted. We suggest you use a text editor (e.g. notepad.exe) to edit the text to be used in the test BEFORE you start Touch Typing NoW! and then import the text using the import option.
To delete a test, go
to the Custom Test Management menu, click on the test you want to
delete and click on the
delete test button
.
You will be asked if you are sure that you want to delete the test. If you
answer YES, the test will be deleted immediately and will no longer be displayed
in the list of custom tests.
